Alicia Coertze
Counselling Psychologist
BSocSci (Hons) (SACAP) · PGCE (Stadio) · MA Counselling Psychology (UKZN)
Hi, my name is Alicia, and I am a Counselling Psychologist. Not too long ago, I was in your shoes — applying repeatedly in the hope of securing a place in a Master's programme. Four years ago, I was fortunate to be accepted, but the journey there was far from easy.
I applied for four consecutive years to multiple universities and went through countless interviews. Each rejection was deeply discouraging, and there were moments when I almost gave up. Looking back, I'm incredibly grateful that I didn't.
This experience shaped my passion for supporting others through this challenging and often emotionally demanding process. Currently, I am in private practice, a psychology educator, and I do locum work within hospital settings.

Reviews
The guidance from Alicia was honestly so relevant to the Masters selection process. I felt quite calm during the interviews and way more in control of my responses as we had gone through different scenarios. It was the first time I had been accepted into the interview selection week and I was accepted into the programme thereafter — I highly recommend the mentorship!

Janine's workshop created a supportive space to prepare for what can be a nerve-racking process. I was encouraged to be myself, not to overthink, and to fully embrace the opportunity. I was offered a place on the BPsych equivalent programme, and I truly believe the workshop, mentoring and ongoing support were invaluable.
